Morning Cardio is one of the best ways to start losing weight. Wake up in the morning and before you put any food in your system start doing your cardio workout. Whether it’s running on a treadmill, outside, elliptical, swimming or anything else that is cardio sufficient, preforming those activities will help you lose weight faster than doing your cardio workouts after you eat. If you do your cardio workouts prior to eating any carbs you will burn more stored body fat (because glycogen is not burned). Your body’s glycogen levels are lower in the morning and doing cardio without eating causes your body to mobilize more fat because of the lack in glycogen. Also your blood glucose levels are lower when you first wake up so you will burn more fat, which will be used for energy. Eating immediately before cardio prevents fat burning because you will first have to burn off what you ate first before your body will burn stored body fat.

 

Your cardio workouts should be at a low to moderate intensity (don’t start doing full sprints in the morning) your intensity level should be around 60-75%. If you exceed that level then you will start using stored glycogen which you don’t want to do. So just keep it as simple and don’t over exhaust yourself if you’re doing cardio in the morning.
