Losing weight is not as easy as people make it out to be, you see commercials saying “take this pill and lose weight in 30 days” Or you hear of trainers telling you that if you follow their workouts you will be fit and lean in 60 days. Some people or advertisements make it out to be as easy as 1, 2, 3. Well truth is that is isn’t that easy, if it were that easy then the United States wouldn’t be facing an obesity problem. According to the center of disease control and prevention, more than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) are obese. The only way to actually lose weight is to follow a proper diet plan and workout routine. I will be the first to tell you that weight loss doesn’t happen overnight or even as fast as we want it to. The most basic principle to follow is to burn off more calories than taking in. Next is to limit or even eliminate the amount of sugar being consumed. Third is to lower the amount of carbs being consumed and replacing simple carbs (candy, honey, corn syrup, brown sugar) with complex carbs (green vegetables, whole grains such as oatmeal and whole grain breads, sweet potatoes, brown rice). And lastly of course is to increase the amount of protein being consumed, try eating lean protein (ground turkey, chicken breast, fish). Follow all of that up by workout out 4 to 6 days a week and watch the pounds start coming off, slowly of course. Everyone’s body type is different so there is not telling as to exactly how fast you will start losing weight but I can guarantee if you follow a strict diet and are dedicated enough to go to the gym and workout hard, you will be pleased with the results.
